Breckenridge tends to have a reputation as a winter town, and it’s pretty obvious why! We are lucky enough to have the best slopes for skiing and snowboarding, making us an international destination. So, what happens when the sun comes out and the snow thaws? Lots of things, really! As a Breckenridge family photographer, I am on a mission to help people see what makes this town so special any time of year! If you are looking for summer family activities in Breckenridge, here are a few things you need to try!

If you ask me, the best views of Breckenridge come from above! If you want to find out why, check out EPIC Discovery over at the BreckConnect Gondola. You can choose between several different family activities and packages that take you from Breckenridge up to Peak 8. Then, once you get there, you can do lots of things like go down the Gold Runner rollercoaster, navigate a ropes course, and play a round of mini-golf.

Isak Heartstone is a legend for a reason! This 15-foot wooden troll sculpture has called a few spots in Breckenridge his home but now resides on the Trollstigen Trail. In order to get here, you have to be up for an adventure. There’s no nearby parking, so you’ll have to come ready for a hike. Don’t worry; it’s very easy for families of Breckenridge explorers of all levels! Once you get there, you will get to meet the local icon and take as many selfies as you’d like!
0542 French Gulch Road, Breckenridge, Colorado 80424
If you want to learn about the rich history of this area, you have to stop by Country Boy Mine! This is one of the oldest mines in the area and shows you what it was like to work these hills. You can stop by the western town, go for a treasure hunt, tour the mine, and even pan for gold yourself. There are tons of family activities that also teach you the history of Breckenridge!
150 Marina Drive, Dillon, Colorado 80435
Stand Up Paddle Colorado has several spots across the state that let you try your hand at paddleboarding. You will have two hours to rent a paddleboard and get out on the water. While paddleboarding is better for advanced adventurers, the company also offers kayak and canoe rentals that are perfect for all ages!
326 E. 7th St, Leadville, Colorado 80461
Leadville Railroad is always going to be one of my top recommendations for families with younger kids. This amazing spot lets you board an authentic railroad train and take a ride through the Rocky Mountains. They have tons of experiences that let you customize your ride however you’d like!
